Day 2: Ischigualasto Excursion (The Valley of the Moon)
Morning: After breakfast, we depart for an extraordinary excursion to Ischigualasto Provincial Park, also known as The Valley of the Moon. This breathtaking journey takes us into one of the most fascinating geological sanctuaries on Earth via the spectacular National Route 150—a masterpiece of road engineering that offers stunning panoramic views of the Precordillera before reaching our destination.
Once inside the protected area, a designated UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site, we will embark on the Traditional Day Tour. This 40-kilometer (25-mile) internal expedition immerses travelers in an otherworldly landscape across four colossal stations sculpted by time: starting with the mystical textures of the Valle Pintado (Painted Valley), the perfect natural symmetry of Cancha de Bochas (The Bowling Green), and the monumental sandstone structures known as El Submarino (The Submarine) and El Hongo (The Mushroom).
This deep dive into the fascinating Triassic desert culminates with a visit to the William Sill Interpretation Center. This scientific space located inside the park provides crucial context regarding the work of regional paleontologists and exhibits real fossils of Earth's most primitive dinosaurs discovered in this very soil. This guarantees a profound and unforgettable journey to the heart of prehistoric time.
(Note: The tour covers all transfers and circuit coordination; park admission fees are not included).
Afternoon: Return to San Juan. Accommodation.
Day 3: Xumec or Putruele Experience with Lunch
